Does anyone have experience capturing and archiving WeChat data?  I am working with a research group that wants to capture text conversation, emoticon usage, as well as shared audio clips.

Using the WeChat client for Windows running inside an emulator such as qemu might give the best results. You then archive the harddisk image. As far as I know, the WeChat client uses a caching directory where it stores all data it receives. But conserving the software is as important.
